Modbus RTU & Modbus TCP Communications & Components for MG Series Control Instrument
Modbus RTU is an industrial communication protocol developed in 1979 used to establish communication between intelligent devices. It is one of the most widely used network protocols in the industrial manufacturing environment.
Modbus TCP is the Modbus variant used for communication over TCP networks between machines. Ethernet has become the standard of corporate enterprises and is becoming more common for factory networking. Using Modbus TCP in the factory allows true integration with the corporate Intranet and systems that support the factory.
Modbus TCP uses a Modbus RTU to Modbus TCP gateway and an industrial grade RJ45/IP67 connector.
The Modbus RTU and Modbus TCP interface allow the instrument to communicate with a variety of devices including primary processing equipment controls and PLC’s. Modbus can communicate
information including setpoint, actual temperature, deviation alarm, sensor failure, remote start/stop and more.
Pictured is an example of the Modbus RTU to Modbus TCP gateway used when the optional Modbus TCP interface is purchased. Advantage part number 4470050 is available for factory or
field installation.
