General Information

Advantage provides two control instruments for central chillers and systems. Both the Advantage MultiZone Instrument and the PLC provide equal temperature control functions and operational information. The instruments differ in operator interface and the PLC offers several optional features not available on the MultiZone Instrument such as digital flow rate and digital pressure readings.

The MULTIZONE INSTRUMENT is the standard control instrument used on central chillers and is manufactured by an affiliated company, Advantage Electronics.

The MultiZone Instrument is designed specifically for the functions required for controlling ADVANTAGE central chillers.

The operator interface panel is intuitive, using discrete push buttons and independent panel mounted pump control switches and indicating lights.

The MultiZone Instrument is highly configurable for controlling any combination of reciprocating, screw and multiple scroll compressor central chiller. It can control up to 6 independent refrigeration zones.

A Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) is an alternative control instrument for central chillers and systems. There are manufactured product available from many vendors.

ADVANTAGE has chosen Allen Bradley, the recognized leader in this technology, to provide hardware for the PLC chiller control instrument option.

PLC instruments can be used for many applications and are preprogrammed to control the chiller functions and pump control functions. The operator interface panel is a touch screen panel. The PLC programming can be customized to meet specific customer requirements.
